I am looking for actors for a short film as part of my Master's Thesis at ESAD Caldas da Rainha / Mestrado de Artes de Imagem e Som. Filming is intended to begin at the start of June and will take a few days with a small team of students and friends. Although it is a small, independent project, actors will be given compensation depending on the size of their role, and their travel costs will be covered.

International applicants are welcome as the roles can be spoken in English. (Especially female lead)

Actors:

- 1 female lead (International / Portuguese), 20-35 years,
- 1 male lead (International / Portuguese) 20-35 years

Extras for small scenes:

- 1 senior woman
- 1 senior man
- Middle-aged man
- Teenager / Students
- Any age and gender, scenes can be adapted!

Sinopsis:

After a brief work trip, a young woman who is detached from her life misses her return flight from Lisbon and spends an extra day wandering through the city, encountering alienating and curious situations along the way.
It seems as though the city is communicating with her, she becomes part of events, overhears conversations that concern her and observes the contrast between the historical narrative presented to visitors and the events of everyday life. To escape the crowds, she takes a boat to the other side of the Tejo, where she meets Sandro, a free spirit who takes life as it comes and persistently tries to strike up a conversation with her. They go for a walk along the riverbank to a ruin and talk about history and the present and the meaning of freedom in the context of modern alienation through acceleration.

The experience of the place becomes an extension and projection of the protagonist’s self; at the same time, the film explores a woman’s experience as a traveler who observes but is also being observed, and whose openness leads to consequences. The film explores how life unfolds in the unplanned, the noise of the everyday that is only pereceivable through an undirected gaze, and the meaning of travel - between voyeurism, chance encounters, and personal transformation.
