Mystery School of Choreography: Corpo, Magia e Arquivo com Meg Stuart

Durante seis meses, entre fevereiro e julho de 2025, a coreógrafa Meg Stuart guiou uma comunidade temporária de artistas através do PACAP 8 – Programa Avançado de Criação em Artes Performativas, proposto pelo Forum Dança. Com sede em Lisboa, mas com ramificações que se estenderam aos Açores, a Montemor-o-Novo e à Culturgest, a oitava edição do PACAP assumiu a forma de uma “Mystery School of Choreography”: um espaço pedagógico e artístico que recusa respostas fáceis e aposta no fascínio pelo invisível, pelo corpo como oráculo e pela dança como campo de investigação metafísica, política e poética.

No culminar deste percurso, Meg Stuart e os participantes apresentam na Culturgest Archives for Future Spells, uma performance duracional onde a noção de arquivo se entrelaça com feitiços, ficções e possibilidades de futuro. Nesta conversa, revisitamos com Stuart os princípios que guiaram este processo, o desafio de trabalhar com o “não-saber” como metodologia, o papel do encantamento e da intuição na prática coreográfica e o potencial da dança como espaço de transformação sensível e coletiva.

Over the course of six months, from February to July 2025, choreographer Meg Stuart led a temporary community of artists through PACAP 8 – the Advanced Program for Performing Arts Creation, organized by Forum Dança. Based in Lisbon, but extending its roots to the Azores, Montemor-o-Novo, and the Culturgest galleries, the eighth edition of PACAP took the form of a Mystery School of Choreography: a pedagogical and artistic space that rejects easy answers and embraces fascination with the invisible, the body as oracle, and dance as a site of metaphysical, political, and poetic inquiry.

As the culmination of this journey, Stuart and the participants present "Archives for Future Spells", a durational performance where the notion of archive merges with spells, fictions, and future possibilities. In this conversation, Meg Stuart revisits the guiding principles of the process, the challenge of working with “not-knowing” as methodology, the role of enchantment and intuition in choreographic practice, and the potential of dance as a space for sensitive and collective transformation.
