DO YOU....?
- …miss technical skills to deepen your acting?
- …struggle finding emotional truth without forcing it?
- …feel disconnected from your scene partner, your body, and imagination?
- …rely too heavily on intellectual analysis, past habits, and “safe” choices?
- …want to learn how to quickly discover the depth of your character before going to the audition?
- …wish to get free, creative, and follow true impulses?
If yes, these workshops are for you.
DURING THESE WORKSHOPS, YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO:
- Practice the ability to work on different scenes, in a short amount of time (similar to the experience of auditioning) by playing different characters each time, interacting with a new partner.
- Learn a few Michael Chekhov technique tools: Psychological Gesture, Imaginary Centers, 3 Centers, and Qualities of Movement, and apply them to a scene work.
- Work with your body and imagination, and learn to trust that they will guide you.
- Build a craft that’s sustainable and emotionally healthy.
- Find presence, freedom, and playfulness in your work.
DETAILED ASPECTS OF “SCENE WORK” THAT YOU WILL EXPLORE:
- Discovering the character's relationships, motivations, and objectives by using your imagination.
- Incorporating physicality and movement to enhance character portrayal and dynamics of the scene.
- Developing a clear understanding of what happened to the character right before the scene begins.
- Paying attention to your scene partner and responding authentically to them.
ABOUT THE MICHAEL CHEKHOV TECHNIQUE:
Chekhov developed a fully psycho-physical approach offering simple tools for working with the imagination, body, and emotions. This technique engages the actor's entire body and stimulates his psyche and emotional states, enabling the actor to transform into another character.
The great advantage of the Michael Chekhov technique is that it allows you to use imagination in order to create a character, helps you to deeply connect with your body and understand the intangible, psychological processes happening within the body, and allows you to reconnect with your creative energy.
